Free Swim and Gym during Rio Paralympics

PARTNERSHIP INSPIRES THOSE WITH A DISABILITY TO
GET ACTIVE DURING THE PARALYMPICS

Cornwall Sports Partnership in partnership with Tempus Leisure, The Amateur Swimming Association and Disability Cornwall are pleased to offer free swimming and access to the gym at all Tempus Leisure sites during the 2016 Rio Paralympics!

Working together all four organisations want to inspire those people with a disability toget active and get in the pool or in the gym. Seeing Team GB win medals in Rio and access to FREE activity will inspire those with a disability to go along to their local facility (Please visit www.tempusleisure.org.uk to find your closest facility) and give it a go.

Steve Hillman, Sports Inclusion Officer at the Cornwall Sports Partnership commented ‘This is a great opportunity for those people with a disability whatever age and ability to give swimming or the gym a go. They are going to be watching the very best in the Rio Paralympics including Cornwall’s very own Jonathan Fox (competing in the swimming backstroke event) and what better opportunity than to be able to go down to their closest facility and try and replicate what they see!’

Tim Webb, Head of Leisure Facilities for Tempus Leisure said “Tempus Leisure is excited to be involved in this initiative. It gives us a great opportunity to demonstrate how passionate we about offering activities that are truly inclusive. I’m sure that everyone has been inspired by GB’s medal success in Rio and will want to continue to be active in our centres with our great value Breeze membership offers.”

Charity Golf Day

Charity Golf Day

in aid of Plymouth & District Special Olympics and Rotary Foundation

Friday 16th September 2016

Boringdon Golf Club, Plympton, PL7 4QG

Dear  Golfer

Our annual golfing event this year will be held at the scenic Boringdon Golf Club in Plympton, Plymouth.  Last year we raised over £2000 for the Plymouth Cavitron Fund. We are hoping to beat that amount this year for our chosen charity “Plymouth & District Special Olympics”.

This local organisation is part of an international Special Olympics Movement, which is dedicated to enhancing the lives of those with an Intellectual (Learning) Disability through training and competition in numerous sporting disciplines, in both summer and winter sports. The children can take part from eight years of age and are encouraged to have fun, meet new friends and try out some new sports.

We are inviting you to help us in our fundraising by either;

  • Entering a team of three golfers (£40 per player – for teams of three. Entry is inclusive of a bacon roll and coffee on arrival, 18 holes of golf, a two course meal and great prizes)
  • Sponsoring a hole (£25 per hole).
  • Providing a prize.
  • Donating to the day’s fundraising effort.

Please also help us in promoting this event further by letting your colleagues and friends know of it.

We do hope that you will be able to support us in this year’s effort for a very worthy charity. We enclose your entry/donation form.

St Piran’s Event This Weekend

St Piran’s Day – 5th March

Two things for this Saturday’s session at Truro College.

First, it’s St. Piran’s Day, so could everyone try to wear something black or white to mark the occasion? We will be taking some extra photos as well.

Also, it’s an open day at Truro College so please be aware the car park and halls are likely to be busy! Watch out for traffic and don’t worry if there’s loads of extra people about.

Look forward to seeing you all there.

Rose.
