Special Olympics Cornwall

Special Olympics Cornwall is a sporting organisation for people with intellectual/learning disabilities (LD)

SOC provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports giving people with LD the opportunity to challenge themselves and achieve.

In 2017 at the Cornwall Sports Awards Special Olympics Cornwall was awarded Club of the Year. At the same ceremony David Painter, Chairman of Special Olympics Cornwall and Special Olympics South West, was awarded Disability Sports Activator of the Year.

In 2018 at the Cornwall & IOS Care and Support Awards, Special Olympics Cornwall won the Voluntary, Community or Social Enterprise Organisation of the Year Award.

To be eligible to take part in SOGB programmes, participants must have an IQ of 75 and below.
